Is aloe good for dreads?

Aloe Vera can be used in dreads to condition them, but it will not help the dreading process because it will coat the hair causing the dreads to have a hard time locking up.

In what order should I wax, wash?

Twist & Pin
You should apply cream or wax before you make twist and re-wax or cream after the twist are about 4 days old, then once a week after that. If any of the twist fall apart apply the wax or cream and re-twist them. You shouldn't wash your dreads until they are a month old, your dreads will be very delicate, you should cover them with a nylon when you wash and be very gentle. After you have washed and the hair is dry, apply cream or wax to the twist and re-twist them. Do not change your sections or comb the twist out.

Which wax should I use?

There are many different products out on the market that say they are intended for dreadlocking hair, but that does not mean that they actually work. Any wax that has the ingredient of petroleum is bad for your dreads, it will make your dreads feel nasty and it will make your dreads fall apart. There are 2 waxes that are appropriate for dreadlocking hair:

1. Knatty Dread
2. DreadHead

1. Knatty Dread - This is the best loc cream we tested. It has necessary vitamins and nutrients for healthy locs and scalp and it's not greasy.

2. DreadHead- This is the best of the waxes we have tested. Its strong points were its long lasting hold and its lack of grease.
